How we suit a filter to your pool
Filter sizing is the #1 thing most pool shops get wrong. We treat the filter, pump and sanitiser as one system. Every install starts with a free on-site or over-the-phone evaluation.
- Pool volume
- We measure or calculate your pool volume (LxWxAvg depth × 1000).
- Turnover
- Australian Standards recommend 1 full turnover every 6–8 hours — that sets the minimum required flow rate (LPM).
- Pump match
- Filter flow rating must be equal to or higher than the pump's max flow at your plumbing pressure. Undersized filters choke flow and shorten cell / heater life.
- Media type
- Sand (cheapest, 5-yearly change), glass media (better clarity, longer life), or cartridge (no backwash, compact).
- Plumbing & space
- We check existing pipework (40 / 50mm), backwash drainage and the slab footprint before quoting.
Filter types
Three filter formats — one right for your pool
Sand filters
The workhorse — cheap to run, easy to service, sand swap every 5–7 years. Best for large family pools.
Glass media filters
Drop-in replacement for sand. Filters finer particles (down to 5µm), uses less water on backwash, lasts up to 10 years.
Cartridge filters
No backwashing, very compact, excellent clarity. Ideal for small pools, spa pools and water-restricted areas.
